It's the first day of Christmas vacation and I think I need to go back to work. Marie called this morning and Katelyn now has the stomach bug that Morgan had the last three days. They are hoping she will be better so they can atleast come by Saturday. I was real excited Tuesday to get an electric griddle for $4 at Kohl's with a $10 rebate. I had been wanting one so the price was perfect! I went to fill out the rebate form this morning and realized the garbage truck had just picked up the trash that contained the box that had the UPC code I needed for the rebate!!!! Then I decided to address and sign the card I had purchased yesterday at the Christian bookstore for our pastor and his wife only to discover the envelope is a couple sizes too small. I always check envelopes to be sure they match the card. I pulled out all my boxes of cards and there is no envelope that fits. You would have thought making a special trip to the bookstore for the card (which is over by the mall) I would have at least checked the envelope. We had leftovers for lunch and I reached in the fruit bowl for a tangerine and it mushed in my hand all black and soupy! I need a good perspective check!
I think I'm just coming down from work and feeling like I have to accomplish something all the time. There are many things I need to do, but alas the motivation is not there.
Maybe if I bake some cookies or something! Dad thinks that's a great idea! With my luck today I'm afraid I'll either burn them or leave out a vital ingredient. I may give it a shot anyway!
Love you all-

It's sounds like you need a day of rest...putting your feet up, watching movies, dozing off now and then, looking at magazines....even though I'm sure the cookies would taste great. Maybe make the cookies, a pot of coffee to go with and then put your feet up for the rest of the day. I hope the rest of your break is a lot better than your first day!
Love you! (amy....not Joel) : )
Ohh Mom, I'm sorry you had such a disappointing day. I think your right Amy. You need a day to just rest. I suggest going out and buying a new book from a bookstore, just anyone that looks interesting. Go down to the beach with Dad and crack open the binding and smell the salty air. Of,course a day like that would not be complete without a Grande Caramel Machiato, double, nonfat. MMMMMMMM.... But If you decide to just start baking cookies you can always send more out west. We love your cookies! And we Love you too Mom!
Thanks for the sentiments! :) I made a batch of white christmas mix, did suduko puzzles and watched a Christmas movie. We also got a present for dad - one of those Crosley turntable/CD/radio things that will record lps to cds. I think dad will get a lot of enjoyment out of that. I'm working on having him get rid of the 2 turntables and 2 CD players that are sitting on top of the bookcase now so that we can clear out some unusable stuff. I think we're close!
Oooh, I've been meaning to ask you for that recipe! Although, we can't get chex cereal here...any thoughts? And maybe Dad could record the kids records for the grandkids, especially the Kids Praise ones! I'm glad you had a nice day. It always takes Joel a day or so to unwind when he breaks for vacation too. Enjoy the rest of your days!
White mix- 5 Cups cherrios, 5 cups corn chex, 2 cups peanuts, M & M's, Pretzels. Pour 3 Tablespoons of oil over 2 12-oz bags of vanilla chips and melt. I usually melt in microwave for 2-3 minutes. Pour over dry mix and mix well. Put on wax paper or cookie sheets to dry. Really any other kind of cereal should work. Someone at school put some kind of flakes in theirs, like corn flakes I guess. Grandma has started putting chocolate covered rasins in hers. It's pretty forgiving. When I was at Uncle Martins he asked me to make some and the store I went to only had chocolate chex. It worked. I've made 4 kinds of cookies today and shelled several pounds of pecans. Have swept and cleaned bathrooms so I think we're ready for guests. But now Marie and Will are sick with the flu. Hopefully tomorrow will dawn with everyone better. I'm going to get dad to record those kids albums - I think the grands will enjoy them.
