Ryan's first day!

Makes you wonder where all the time went. I know he is just going to kindergarden but it is still a milestone in our lives. It sure makes you appreciate the time you have with them.

Thought I would share a video I made to help promote our Mafia Scavenger Hunt this coming Saturday. The teens really liked it when we watched it on Wed. night.

End of "the week!"

I know I'm not the only one that has had a WEEK, but first week back with teachers is always busy and fun! (right Marie?) In many ways I feel we are more prepared for this year than in the past, but there are still a number of important loose ends that need to be tied off. The good side, our enrollment may surpass last year. At this point we are a couple students a head of last year. The rubber will meet the road when some of the payment arrangements come due - we'll see what happens. Several of our classes are maxed out (5 I think) and our budget for the year was set on having 290 and we're at almost 330.

Yesterday dad had a VA appointment with his primary care doctor. It was just a regular apt. but early in the week I noticed his left lower leg was red and swollen. I tried to get him to go in but he refused so I knew with the apt. Friday it would be taken care of. Our fear was a new clot. It was an amazing day - as if the Lord went before us and prepared everything. With work being so busy I went in early Friday and worked for a couple hours, left at 9 to pick up dad for his 10:15 apt. Prayed all the way down that we'd find a parking spot or better yet that the valet would be open (it closes if there are too many cars and no spaces to park). The valet was open so we were able to pull right up and unload. The dr. saw him within 15 minutes of his time, sent him right away for an ultrasound. The leg superseded everything else so it was as if the apt was for his leg. They worked him in quickly for the ultrasound. When we went back down to see the dr. she told us to get some lunch while she got the results and decided what to do. Dad and I were able to have a nice lunch together (good coffee!) and went back to wait. About 15 minutes after that she came out and said no new clots so they think it is just an infection. Gave us a prescription for a strong antibiotic for 10 days. By the time we got to the prescription pick up his name was already on the board and by 1:00 we were out of there! I was back at work by 2:00! I just had to share this because I truly believe God worked on our behalf and I am soooo thankful!

I think each of your families are facing some test of faith right now, but God is faithful and he will provide - even for the most mundane desires and needs. I am praying for you and love to hear your stories!

Love you,
Mom

meatloaf

There has not been anything more elusive (besides sleep, lately) in my life than making a good meatloaf.... I tried again tonight. I have a tried and true recipe from a lady in my church - yay! I thought, the SECRET recipe:) I made it and to my chagrin, Ryan says, mommy, this is NOT like mrs. Yohe's meatloaf. Mrs. Yohe made a perfect little meatloaf for us a couple of weeks ago after Garrett came home. It was good!! Mine was not. Meatloaf must be one of those things that comes with time?? I give up! I think... but it's kinda one of those things that nag you and bother you and almost taunt you. It is not in my make-up to be defeated by meatloaf, of all things. Meatloaf has become my nemesis - how DO you spell that??? I will perfect my meatloaf....

All is almost-well in the woodard household. Not much sleep - atleast for me:) but everything else is fine. We lost our a/c Tues and ended up at the good ole pcc campus house for the night:) We were very thankful for a cool place to sleep. It is fixed now, and the part was under warranty - thank the Lord!! He is so good to us and all of you too. Life gets so busy, but take a minute to look around and you can't help but see all of his bountiful provisions!! All of this, to me who is so undeserving!!!!

Gotta run, Garrett is fussing...sigh..... our camera is on the blink currently, which is horrible timing.... hopefully new pics soon

Woodard one liners.

I was in the car with Ryan and Matthew and talking with them about random stuff when it hit me. There are a lot of "one liners" that will bring a smile to my face but have no effect on anyone else. I thought of a couple, see if they bring a smile to yours. You could even say "you might be a Woodard if you smile when you hear..."
  • "Hang on kids, hang on!!"
  • "I cry I miss you."
  • "It's good pineapple upside down cake, eat it."
  • "(the 'no' sign)"
  • "Is this another 'short cut' dad?"
  • "Rapp'n for Jesus, Rapp'n for Jesus, to the beat"
  • "Smell your hand, it smells like bannana"
  • "I think it's the pistons"
  • "Turn right when you get to Chicago"
  • "Stop it or you'll get a head-ache"
  • "It will just take a minute."
I had a lot more but when I tried to recall them i can't now. If you have some please share.
