An Adventure

My parents are headed to Hawaii for 2 weeks so they volunteered to watch Noah last night so Jon and I could go on a date. We decided to head to Lewis & Clark state park in Troutdale and take a hike that we'd taken 7 years ago when Jon was in OR for Joel & Amy's wedding. We did it in the dark last time (and I had shin splints too) and it was pretty scary but we thought this time it would be better because it was light out. We packed a picnic dinner and headed up. Oh, my...it was still scary in the light. It was a steep climb and I'm not to great with heights. I had to keep focusing on what was right in front of me or I'd look down...not a good idea. We FINALLY made it to the top and had a great view and some good food. We decided not to eat too much and to leave while there was a lot of light left. Good thing too because we went the wrong way down for about 10 minutes (straight down hanging onto roots for dear life) before we climbed back up to try a different route. Whew, we decided not to do that again. We wanted to share some of our pictures since there won't be any more! Jon's pointing to where we were, there are some of the view and one looking down at the parkinglot.

The other night we had a lot of fun with Noah. We turned all the furniture in the living room into a gigantic tent and we all had a blast crawling around...even Bree. Noah had so much fun he was up until 11pm. I just couldn't get him to sleep. We hope tonight is better because we are all in need of some good sleep.

Oh, good ol' Troutdale! I seem to remember climbing that at night a couple times too...pretty crazy, but if you can follow the trail it isn't "too" bad. I've heard that that there is lots more hiking at the top, to "somewhere", but I can't remember where to. And your fort looks fun!! You two are great parents!

That view of the parking lot makes me dizzy - even sitting in Charleston! Whose betting in 7 years they'll try again! :) I know Noah loved the tent! He is adventurous!
