While Erin was away in Florida this past week I tore into our bedroom and managed to occupy my time so that I did not have time to know she was gone. It worked for the most part. I had nine days to completely re-do our bedroom, the last room in the house that needed to be done. It is hard to take good pictures of a small room so I will give you the jist.... I added pocket doors into the closet and bathroom, put in laminate flooring, converted all the drywall to a smooth wall finish, moved light switches, added some outlets, added seven new light fixtures, refinished the bathroom cabinets, machined up and sprayed the new wood mouldings, finally lacquered our headboard that I made before we were married, painted and trimmed out the windows. So, it was a success! I was soo busy while she was gone that the days were going by too fast. I calculated I put in some 65 hours in eight days working on the room. Along with that I put in the normal 56+ hours at work. So, given that there are 216 hours in nine days I managed to work 121 of them leaving 10.5 hrs a day to miss Erin and Noah (or sleep as I did with a few of those hours, eat which I did occassionally and oh yeah commute to work). Anyways, I wanted to pass along the advice to you guys if you are home alone for an extended amount of time a good project will be well worth the money!

Wow! Good job Jon! Sounds and looks like a lot of work! Can you put a picture of the bathroom?? Just curious. I just like to scrapbook when Joel is gone... : )
Was she surprised?
